In August 2024, at 26 years old, Sean Bell became the fastest person to have run around Australia, setting a world record for the fastest circumnavigation of Australia on foot. Sean completed the required 13,383 km in 158 days, 16 hours, and 52 minutes, averaging 84.4 km per day, the equivalent of 2 marathons a day!
The 13,383 km record breaking point traces back to Ron Grant, the first person to run around Australia in 1983. After surpassing that historic milestone, Sean continued running to complete his full anti-clockwise loop of mainland Australia, finishing at the MCG on his 166th consecutive day of running (total time 165 days, 13 hours and 26 minutes).
By chasing his dream of running around Australia to help sick kids achieve theirs, our incredible community came together to raise $177,000 for Make-A-Wish Australia.
